Type of Opportunity: Part Time (.45 to .89)
Work Schedule: Varied Days and Hours
Provides Basic and Intermediate Life Support pre-hospital emergency care, transportation and non-emergency transfer service to patients
*Maintains and operates an emergency medical vehicle in the safe transportation of emergency and non-emergency patients. Maintains current working knowledge and certification in defensive driving techniques.
*Maintains positive communications and collaboration with Emergency Department physicians and staff regarding the therapy administered to patients being delivered to their facility.
*Documents and maintains an informative and accurate medical record and initiates charges for each patient encounter according to Ambulance Department policies and CQI guidelines.
*Provides control and leadership to patients, bystanders, and assisting agencies on emergency scenes.
*Maintains current working knowledge and physical conditioning to extricate trapped patients from automobiles, confined spaces and other dangerous environments.
*Assists with patient care in the Emergency Department as necessary.
*Maintains working knowledge of geographical coverage area to ensure timely response to calls.
*Assists in the education of EMT students and other third riders to provide for positive community and professional relations.
*Attends department and hospital staff meetings and educational programs and keeps current with patient care developments through participation in seminars, workshops and publications reviews.
High school plus specialized, short term training in emergency transportation. Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions. Current New Mexico EMT-Intermediate license, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification and New Mexico Drivers license, 21 years of age to comply with insurance regulations. Less than one year emergency vehicle driving experience. Defensive Driving course completion certificate preferred
